In Never Land, Artist Colleen Terrell Comer examines the ways we cope with issues both intimate and outsized. It’s an exhibition on hope and futility, escape and reality, delusion and doom scrolling all wrapped up in humor and bright color.
Colleen Terrell Comer lives and work in Mobile, AL. Comer makes humorous, research based work in many different materials. Right now mostly figures and landscapes and some junk food. Drawing from the carnivalesque, absurd realities of contemporary life, her work re-centers the female figure within a surreal parody of art history and popular culture. These narratives challenge traditional ideas of self-image and agency in the context of every day calamities/banalities.
