a message from the artist: Shadow Party is all about play. For this site specific installation, I collected plastic objects to create a wonderland of dancing light and color.

Experimenting with a material as versatile and abundant as plastic has been surprisingly satisfying. I don’t usually use it in my found-object work, but everyone has plexi junk lying around their kitchens and offices. Once I started to look for it I saw it everywhere. It is another example of how easy it is to overlook things that seem to have no value.

The show happens to fall on my birthday and I think that inspired me to up the level of fun and just roll with whatever happened. I want it to feel like the sculpture is throwing itself a party and we’re all there to celebrate.
